I am Keri and I handle most of the paperwork and marketing while my husband, Chris, takes care of the manual labor. We have raised boer goats for sale since 2003. Our herd consists of approximately 30 Fullblood South African Boer Goat Does, 2 Fullblood SA Bucks, and about 20 High Percentage boer does. We are gradually introducing colored boer goats into our herd. Like most women, I love the beautiful Paint and Solid Red boer goats. Chris tends to favor the Traditional colored boers. Lucky for us, one of our major foundation does, "Patches", throws alot of beautiful paint kids. Our only problem is that we want to keep them all! I guess that is a good problem to have. We are building some great foundation does out of "Patches".
We were fortunate to purchase our Herd Buck, FSE Aflac's Pride, here locally from Jim and Lynn Farmer. Pride throws beautiful, long, wide, elegant kids. His kids are expressing an excellent, square leg set, nice toplines, and necks that tie nicely into their shoulders. He has already thrown some really nice show wethers that should compete well in the ring. His doe kids are also very nice. We keep a handful of doe kids each year, but we learned early on that you must sell some of your very best goats in order for people to see the quality that you are willing to offer boer goats for sale.
We recently purchased a new Herd Buck, Lazy L-Hilltop Hurricane's Storm, that we are very excited about. Thanks to Pete and Beverly Warlick of Robinson, Texas for allowing us to purchase this beautiful buck. At 6 months he already weighs 135 lbs. He is long, wide, and very meaty with a beautiful head. We love showing this powerful buck kid. Please take a look at our Goat Show Winners page for some of his winning pictures. He has a red tail that catches your eye when you see him. He has done quite well in the show ring. He placed 8th out of 117 in the 3-6 mo. buck kids class at the 2006 ABGA National Show in West Monroe, La. under Judges Norman Kohls, Anton Ward, and Lewis van Rensburg. We were very excited since there were so many nice goats in his class. He also placed 1st in class and Jr. Grand Champion on day 1 at the Texas Shootout in Abilene, Texas under Judge Dr. Fred Homeyer in May 2006. In May 2006 at the Mills Co. Meat Goat Show in Goldthwaite, Texas he placed 2nd in class day 2 under Judge Frank Craddock, and 3rd in class day 1 under Judge Preston Farris. We can't wait to see his kids. He definitely "likes" the ladies, so we should have kids out of Storm this fall. We are quite proud of Storm, and look forward to a great future with him.
Our goats run on pasture the majority of the year because we firmly believe that this helps keep them healthy as well as hardy. We supplement with feed around breeding time and when the does are kidding. This not only contains costs, but it allows them the freedom to roam, explore, and browse as they were originally intended to do. We have found that our boer goats stay healthier and thrive when they are free to graze and browse. Most of our mature does consistently raise twins or triplets. Some of our yearling does have twins as their first set of kids as well.
Most of our buck kids are wethered and sold at weaning age as show wethers to teens making the show circuits. Our kids have competed well in the show ring. Check out our Goat Show Winners page for pictures.
We try to keep in contact with the families that buy our show wethers so that we can constantly learn to produce better kids each year.
The majority of our doe kids are sold at weaning age as replacement stock for other breeders. We offer a few show kids each year. We are proud to have our boer goats spreading into Oklahoma, Missouri, and Indiana as well as many areas of Texas. If you are looking for good boer goats for sale in Texas, we can help. We offer Paint/Red/Traditional does and kids for sale, as well as starter herds and commercial packages. We have boer goats for sale year round.
We believe that our ranch is an ideal place to find boer goats for sale since we are located in Central Texas. Lucky for us, we live in the "Meat Goat Capital of America", so we have made lots of wonderful, knowledgeable, friends quickly. Other breeders can be wonderful sources of information about boer goats. If you are interested in learning more about boer goats, or boer goats for sale, we would love to hear from you!
